Singapore drivers can now go online on the Internet to find out whether they have any outstanding traffic offences to their names. All they need do is to key in their NRIC number and date of birth and the results will be displayed on the screen.

Also car owners can check whether their car has outstanding traffic offences against it. The search can also be done for foreign-registered vehicles. Simply key in the car registration plate number and the results are revealed.

Since 7 Jun 2004, these new transactions have been included in the Electronic Police Centre Web page which also provides the following searches online:

- status of driving licence

- certificate of merit (COM)

- status of driver improvement points (DIPS)

- photocard driving licence delivery status

- request for photocard driving licence application form

- booking of Basic Theory of Driving Test

The service is free. No fees are levied for the searches.

To do the search, visit the Electronic Police Centre at www.spf.gov.sg/epc/index.htm.

The Singapore Police Force recently upgraded the Electronic Driver Data Information and Enquiry System (EDDIES).
