LTA Takes Over Administration
of Bus Lane Offences |
|
LTA to Assist TP on Enforcement Against Illegal
Parking |
|
|
From 1 February 2006 , the Land Transport
Authority (LTA) will take over the full administration of bus lane
offences from the Traffic Police (TP). |
|
In addition to bus lane enforcement on the ground,
LTA will henceforth handle the issuance, processing, and settlement of summonses
and all appeals arising from bus lane offences. |
|
Ensuring smooth traffic is one of the key
objectives of LTA in its mission to provide an efficient land transport
system, and the bus lane scheme is a key initiative of LTA in its
endeavour to improve the efficiency of public transport. |
|
The consolidation of all functions relating
to the administration of the scheme under a single agency will ensure
greater operational efficiency. |
|
LTA will be deploying its traffic
wardens to take enforcement against bus lane violations, and illegal
or indiscriminate parking of vehicles along bus lanes and expressway
shoulders before ERP gantries. |
|
This move by LTA will complement TP¨s
enforcement against illegal parking and ensure safe and
congestion-free roads for all road users. |
|
LTA will also take over the processing,
issuance and settlement of summonses issued by its traffic wardens. |
|
Summonses issued by LTA and TP will
carry the respective agency¨s logo and pertinent information for
compliance. Motorists are advised to follow the instructions
provided in the summons. The penalties for the various offences
remain unchanged. |
