     Road closures for ASEAN Summit meetings

Traffic And Security Arrangements For 13th Asean Summit And Its Related Meetings
The 13th ASEAN Summit and its related meetings, the East Asia Summit and ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit, will be held in Singapore from 18 to 22 Nov 2007 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore.
Dignitaries from the ten ASEAN countries, the six East Asia countries, namely, Australia , China , India , Japan , New Zealand , and Republic of Korea , as well as from the European Union and member countries, will be attending the Summits.
As Singapore plays host to many important guests from overseas, it will be an occasion to profile Singapore on the international stage.
Apart from the meetings held in Shangri-La Hotel, there will be several other key events, which the Leaders and delegates will attend as part of the official programme. They include the following:
a Gala Dinner at Raffles City Convention Centre on Tuesday, 20 Nov 2007 .
b Reception at the Asian Civilisations Museum on Wednesday, 21 Nov 2007.
c Dinner at Istana on Wednesday, 21 Nov 2007.
Police will oversee security arrangements for all the events, and appropriate security measures will be put in place to ensure the safety of the Leaders and delegates. As part of the security and traffic arrangements, Police will deploy resources to conduct roadblocks and security checks at and around all the event venues.
Exercise at Raffles City Convention Centre and Asian Civilisations Museum on 15 Nov 2007
Together with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Police will be conducting an exercise on 15 Nov 2007 to enable the smooth preparation for two key events, namely, the Gala Dinner at Raffles City Convention Centre on Tuesday, 20 Nov 2007 and the reception at the Asian Civilisations Museum on Wednesday, 21 Nov 2007 .
The following road/lane in the vicinity of Raffles City Convention Centre will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6.00pm to 9.30pm for the exercise:
a North Bridge Road (between Middle Road and Stamford Road )
b Extreme right lane along Bras Basah Road (between Bencoolen Street and North Bridge Road)

The following roads at the vicinity of the Asia Civilisations Museum will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7.00pm to 10.00pm:
a Old Parliament Lane.
b Empress Place.

Shangri-La Hotel from 18 Nov to 22 Nov 2007
As part of the security arrangements, selective checks will be done on vehicles travelling along the roads leading to Shangri-La Hotel. Slow traffic is expected during the morning and evening peak hours along Anderson Road and Orange Grove Road .
Although these roads will remain open to the general public, motorists are advised to start their journey early or avoid these roads if possible as slow traffic is expected. Motorists proceeding to Stevens Road from Tanglin Road are advised to use the alternative route via Scotts Road . Motorists proceeding to Orchard Road from Stevens Road and Balmoral Road are advised to use alternative roads via Scotts Road.
