$138 MILLION UTILITY REBATES
FOR HDB HOUSEHOLDS IN 2008 |
|
|
In July 2007, eligible households received
the first instalment of Utilities-Save (U-Save) rebates to help low and
middle-income households as part of the $4 billion GST Offset Package
announced by the Minister for Finance, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, in the
2007 Budget Statement. (A total of $550 million worth of USave rebates
will be handed over five years from 1st April 2007 to 31st March 2012,
benefiting over 760,000 HDB households.) |
|
Come January 2008, each eligible household
will receive the second instalment of these U-Save rebates, amounting to
between $50 and $110, depending on flat type. The table below shows the
disbursement schedule of U-Save rebates for 2008. The rebates for 2008
will cost the Government $138 million. |
